About This Course
This course offers an exploration of kaʻao moʻolelo, inviting participants to expand and refine their perspectives of a Hawaiian lens. Through close reading, historical contextualization, and huakaʻi, we will identify archetypal images, cross-reference characters, places, and names across multiple moʻolelo, and consider how these elements resonate in contemporary Hawaiian society. Together, we will connect the cultural, historical, and visual layers of myth to deepen understanding and relevance in today’s world.
