About This Course
The second course in the ʻAha Kumu pathway combines a two-day immersive huakaʻi with a one-day design summit, centered on the Kamehameha lineage — especially Ruth Keʻelikōlani — to deepen understanding of ʻōiwi leadership, ʻāina stewardship, and spirituality. Participants will critically examine Keʻelikōlani’s moʻolelo, analyze the hula and mele Ka Wahine Lei ʻUla, tour Huliheʻe Palance, and engage with kūpuna at Kahaluʻu to refine kumu leadership indicators and being sketching a kumu leadership pathway. Each member will contribute to this work through faculty and community interviews, reflective journaling, and collaborative research synthesis. Course enrollment is limited to 'Aha Kumu task force participants.
